Some Lower Cretaceous Albian ammonites from the Little Hatchet Mountains, southwestern New Mexico

Bulletin - New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science 16: 91-95

Lasky's original collection of Lower Cretaceous ammonites from the Little Hatchet Mountains of southwestern New Mexico is re-evaluated. These ammonites were collected in the Old Hachita Member of the U-Bar Formation and can be assigned to two taxa: Beudanticeras newtoni Casey (= B. hatchetense Scott) and Douvilleiceras sp. aff. D. mammillatum (Schlotheim) (includes D. n. sp. ind. of Scott and Trinitoceras reesidei Scott, a nomen dubium) They indicate an early Albian age equivalent to the Douvilleiceras mammillatum Ammonite Superzone. There is an unconformity equivalent to the earliest Albian ammonite zone at the Aptian-Albian boundary in southwestern New Mexico.
