Surface-enhanced raman spectroscopy for trace arsenic detection in contaminated water

Surface-enhanced raman spectroscopy for trace arsenic detection in contaminated water

Angew. Chem. 120: 6556 –6560

The Langmuir–Blodgett assemblies of polyhedral Ag nanocrystals are highly active SERS substrates that can perform low-level arsenate and arsenite sensing in aqueous solutions. We achieve arsenate detection at 1 ppb— an order of magnitude below the current standard set by the WHO. Our SERS chip is robust, reproducible, highly portable, and could be easily implemented in field detection.
