Conditioned reflexes in old rats on a fortified diet developed more slowly (from the 20-30th combination) than in young ones. Similar results were obtained in old rats of the second group during development of the electrical defense reaction. Differentiation developed with difficulty or not at all; conversion of the signal value of irritants was difficult. Intramuscular injection of testosterone propionate (0.5mg, 3 times/week) was found to cause slight changes in the higher nervous activity. Even at larger doses of testosterone propionate (1 mg), statistically significant results were not obtained. Reversed conversion of the irritant value after introduction of testosterone propionate proceeded at the same rate as the direct one. Pronounced increase of sexual activity was observed in the experimental rats.
