The effect of the ingestion of diatoms by Copepoda on the diatom population as observed in the sea

The effect of the ingestion of diatoms by Copepoda on the diatom population as observed in the sea

Trudy Inst Okeanol Akad Nauk Sssr 13: 77-82

Distribution of plankton of Bering Sea was studied when, as a result of current, a mass of zooplankton became transported to a mass of algae, and latter were consumed by plankton during night ascent. A reverse quantitative relation has arisen between zoo- and phytoplanktons, which was not due to deleterious effect of diatom. Problem of copepod nutrition is discussed.
