Variability in carbon isotope fractionation during aerobic biodegradation of MTBE in groundwater

Variability in carbon isotope fractionation during aerobic biodegradation of MTBE in groundwater

Groundwater Quality: Securing Groundwater Quality In Urban And Industrial Environments: 5-302

Variability in carbon isotope fractionation as a function of dissolved O2 concentration during biodegradation of MTBE in an unleaded fuel-contaminated chalk aquifer is assessed at the field scale and in laboratory microcosms. Carbon isotope analyses of MTBE show no shifts that would imply biodegradation in the field.
