Weeds identified in an irrigated area, in Villa Mercedes, San Luis, Argentina

Weed identification is necessary before their integrated control. During 1986 - 1987 weeds were collected in two different sites of the same field: cultivated and uncultivated. More different species of weeds were found in the uncultivated places. Amaranthus aff. quintensis and Carduus nutans were found both in the cultivated and uncultivated sites whereas Datura ferox was identified only under the vegetable crops. Ibicella lutea was only found under corn; Brassica campestris, Descurainia argentina and Sphaeralcea bonariensis were always identified in leaf beet, squash, carrot, cabbage, garlic and onion crops.
