The structure of hibernation burrows of steppe man-not (Marmota bobak bobak Mull.) was studied in its settlements of different age (Velikolukskii and Shevchenkovsii districts, Kharkov oblast, Ukraine). Five burrows of steppe marmots were measured: the number of entrances; the total length, diameters, and maximal depth of underground passages; localization, depth, and size of nest chambers; mass of nest material, and the number of latrines. The arrangement of hibernacula related to the relief elements and their underground structure are directed to the maintenance of optimal conditions over a hibernation period.
