A note on the taxonomy and larvae of the acid water prawn, Macrobrachium trompii de Man, 1898 Crustacea Decapoda Caridea Palaemonidae

, : A note on the taxonomy and larvae of the acid water prawn, Macrobrachium trompii de Man, 1898 Crustacea Decapoda Caridea Palaemonidae. Malayan Nature Journal. November; 462: 119-129

The larval development of the Southeast Asian acid water prawn Macrobrachium trompii (De Man, 1989) (Caridea, Palaemonidae) is documented for the first time. The development of this species is of the highly abbreviated type, with only two zoeal and one megalopal stages. The taxonomy of the species is briefly discussed. A key to the first zoea of all four Malaysian Macrobrachium species which have highly abbreviated developments is provided.
