Ciliated protozoa (Ciliophora) communities structure was investigated on 4 localities of the Stupavsky brook in 5 sampling terms. Research was carried out in frame of grant nr. 1/8200/01 with a view to eutrophication increasing and possible anthropogenic influences in this stream. Totally it was determined 71 taxons of ciliated protozoa (7 were new for the fauna of Slovakia). In the majority of cases abundance was growing continuously along the stream - natural eutrophication (locality 1 abundance reached the value of 100 ex/ml up to locality 4 max. 930 ex/ml). During August it was recorded an intensified erosion after spate rains on the upper localities (1 and 2). That was performed by increased occurrence of terrestrial species (representatives of genus Colpoda). On the strength of the Ciliophora community analysis an influence of anthropogenic factors (except for erosion) was performed in a form of organic and toxic pollution that is however short-term (temporary) and didn't cause a permanent damage of the stream.
