Distribution and colonization of the cave-dwelling campodeids on the Iberian Peninsula and Balear Isles Distribucion y colonizacion de los Campodeidos cavernicolas en la Peninsula Iberica e Islas Baleares
Over half a century has past since the description of the first cave-dwelling campodeid of the Iberian Peninsula and Balear Isles. Currently 35 different forms are known of practically the majority of the principle karstic regions. Thanks to this, we can commence to delimit the most diverse and richest bio-geographic provinces: Cantabrian cornice (9 different forms), northeastern Peninsula (15), Betic Mountain Ranges (10). Simultaneously, we can propose hypothesis surrounding the chronology of the colonization of these regions and their probable routes of dispersion, at least for monophiletic genus better defined: tachycampoide, podocampoide, plusiocampoide (i, ii) and campoide (i, ii).
