Abstract
As a result of recent expeditions of several entomologists in the Northwest-Himalaya a large number of specimens of the Bembidion-Subgenus Thaumatoperyphus NETOLITZKY, 1935, is available which includes the single species B. (Th.) ajmonis NETOLTZKY, 1935. Furthermore, a detailed redescription is now possible. Within the range of the species two subspecies can be differentiated. The newly described subspecies Bembidion ajmonis staveni ssp.n. is endemic in the Kagan Valley (Northwest-Frontier-Province, Pakistan). Based on similarities in male genital characters Bembidionetolitzkya STRAND, 1929, is supposed to be the sister group of Thaurrratoperyphus. In addition, some ideas about the importance of the remarkable habitus characters for behavioural ecology of Thaumatoperyphus are taken into consideration.
