From Procaryotas to living and fossil Eucaryotas Des protocaryotes aux eucaryotes actuels et fossiles

From Procaryotas to living and fossil Eucaryotas Des protocaryotes aux eucaryotes actuels et fossiles

Bulletin de la Societe Zoologique de France Evolution et Zoologie, 1202: 157-170

The transition from Protocaryotas to Eucaryotas has been the subject of some controversy. There are no paleontological data supporting last claims that Eucaryotas are offsprings of Protocaryotas belonging to the cyanobacteria group of species, which had merged with the bacterial species of Protocaryotas. Today, many biologists, especially molecular biologists, hold that mitochondrias and plastids are endosymbionts. The compartmentalization theory, which supports a progressive evolution from protocaryotic structure to eucaryotic structure, should not for that he rejected. The two theories need to be taken into account. The author presents a case for the compartmentalization theory while at the same time keeping an open mind toward any objective arguments in favor of the endosymbiosis theory.
