Integrity assessment of the arctic char population of Mondsee using adapted stock-density-indices First tests and results Zustandsbewertung des Seesaiblings-Bestandes im Mondsee anhand adaptierter Laengenfrequenz-Indizes Erste Ansaetze und Ergebnisse

We adapted stock-density-indices originally developed for North American freshwater fish populations to an arctic char population of an Austrian lake (Mondsee). These adapted indices, which are based on length-frequency data from multi mesh gill net catches, were used to assess the arctic char population of Mondsee. The calculated stock-density-indices characterize the population of arctic char of Mondsee as balanced. The PSD (proportional stock density index) and the RSD (relative stock density index) lie within the index ranges of balanced fish populations. Only the RSD for memorable and trophy length are outside the index ranges, indicating less artic chars of these size classes in the population of Mondsee.
