A new species of the genus Rhodoprasina ROTHSCHILD & JORDAN, 1903 (Lepidoptera: Sphingidae) from China, from the Nanling Mts. at the border between the Southeast Chinese provinces Hunan and Guangdong, is described and figured: Rhodoprasina viksinjaevi n. sp., holotype male ex coll. R. Brechlin, Pasewalk (Germany) in coll. Museum Witt, Munich (will finally be included in Zoologische Staatssammlungen Muenchen/Munich, Germany). Within the genus R. viksinjaevi closely resembles the taxi R. nenulfascia CHU & WANG 1997, R. floralis (BUTLER, 1876) and R. corrigenda KITCHING & CADIOU. 1996 but can be easily distinguished by several external characters as well as by the male genitalia structures. The female and the preimaginal instars of this new species remain unknown so fur.
