The birds Gli uccelli

, : The birds Gli uccelli. Memorie del Museo Civico di Storia Naturale di Verona 2 Serie Monografie Naturalistiche, 1: 253-275

The results are given of a study on the bird fauna of Monte Pastello which was carried out over a three year period (1999-2002) and which, in the present paper; are integrated with data collected previously (1992-1998). A total of 89 species, 62 of which belong to the Passeriformes, were recorded in a census of the bird communities in 17 sites and/or transects located within or in the surroundings of the study area. Several species (14) of those observed (60) during the nesting season in a xerothermic area located on the dry and sunny slope of that mountain may be assigned to some of the Mediterranean chorological categories. Finally some data are included on the birds captured by means of mist-nets at the two ringing stations located within a xerothermic oasis, at the southern border of the study area.
