The interspecific variability in the wing pattern is the more evident characteristic in the study of Culicoides. It is considered as morphological parameter until the earliest descriptions. Posteriorly, isolated works had described different parts of the body of adults, primarily of females, which furnished data to the knowledge of the genus. The analyze of diverse structures of body became indispensable. It is more obvious when the closely species with identical pattern of wing are studied. Actually, the pattern of pale marks of the wing is analysed associated with the other parameters used in specific characterization.
