Daphnia magnas life-history traits (longevity, age at first reproduction, progeny produced and clutch size) were measured in individuals from different clutches. First-clutches offspring presented larger clutches, more progeny and more longevity than those from later clutches. Such interclutch variation can does explain for maternal effects or for phenotypic plasticity.
