Comparative analysis of the use of chemotherapeutic agents and pathogen isolation in patient areas at a urologic clinic

An analysis of the consumption of chemotherapeutical agents, of the given spectrum and of the situation of resistance in the course of 5 years (1977 to 1981) at the Urological Clinic of the Medical Department of Wilhelm Pieck University is introduced. The consumption of chemotherapeutical agents per patient was four times higher at the kidney transplantation centre than that of a patient of the urological wards. The chemotherapeutical agent used most frequently was ampicillin. Prevailing germs were Escherichia coli, Proteus spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella spp. After initially applied amount both the germ spectrum and the situation of resistance changed.
