Corneal deadaptation--the case against abrupt cessation of contact lens wear

Corneal deadaptation--the case against abrupt cessation of contact lens wear

Journal of the American Optometric Association 48(3): 339-341

Severe corneal deformations and visual acuity loss frequently result from abrupt cessation of hard contact lens wear. The concept of corneal deadaptation, or the gradual reduction of wearing time over a period of several weeks is suggested as a means of minimizing the deformations and acuity losses.
