Distribution and excretion of lindane -14C in acute intoxication in rats

Distribution and excretion of lindane -14C in acute intoxication in rats

Materia Medica Polona. Polish Journal of Medicine and Pharmacy 20(2): 92-94

Radiometric examinations of the lungs, heart, liver, spleen, kidneys, suprarenal glands, brain, testicles, and fatty tissue were carried out on rats. The animals were given lindane-14C together with crystalline lindane intragastrically, in a dose evoking acute intoxication. After 1-4 hours, a high level of insecticide was found in the examined tissues and remained there from a few hours to two days. Then, lindane was intensively excreted in the first 4 days, in a less degree till the 8th day and much less up to the 35th day of the experiment. On the 36th day the presence of lindane was observed only in the suprarenal glands. In the remaining organs and in the fatty tissue, radioactivity dose to the control group was noted.
