Neonatal cerebral ischaemia: early ultrasound/CT correlation

A case of cerebral ischemia is reported in a newborn at full term, which benefited from early correlation between ultrasonography and computerized tomography (CT). The initial ultrasonic examination showed an abnormal hyperechogenic area regarded as a focal hemorrhage. CT examination performed subsequently demonstrated that the lesion was primarily ischemic. Both examinations were repeated 1 mo. later. Where intracerebral lesions are concerned, it is most desirable to confirm ultrasound results by CT results.
