Age-related characteristics of the effect of insulin on lipolysis and lipid peroxidation in the adipose tissue of rats

In experiments on male rats, aged 4-5 and 24-26 months, the insulin effect on lipolysis and lipid peroxidation in the epididymal adipose tissue was studied in vivo and in vitro. Insulin was administered in doses of 0.5 and 2 U/g body weight and 0.025 and 0.1 U/ml. It was shown that insulin inhibits lipolysis and lipid peroxidation (malonic dialdehyde level was determined) in the adipose tissue. The antilipolytic and antioxidant effects decreased with age.
