Evaluation of an analysis instruction for the detection of volatile carcinogenic nitrosamines in foods with the instrumental combination of the gas chromatograph and thermal energy analyzer

For the method to detect volatile nitrosamines in foods by the instrumental combination gas chromatography-thermal energy analyzer (GC-TEA) the reproducibility (W) and the comparability (V) were detected as test criterions according to the East Germany standard TGL 24131/01-04. The relative values were W = 5.35% and V = 5.45%. These values were regarded at good and they meet in every case the requirements demanded for an analytical procedure for quality control. The recovery rate for dimethylnitrosamine (DMNA) was 82% with a variation coefficient of 7.2%; for dipropylamine (DPNA) the values were 93 and 6.3%, respectively.
