Overuse and trauma in sports--clinical symptoms in the context of modern imaging techniques

New insights in the fields of pathology and diagnostic radiology of sports injuries show that the borders between overuse syndromes and trauma are blurred. Techniques of diagnostic imaging are increasingly important for an objective documentation of morphologic changes of the musculoskeletal system. Typical sports-related syndromes exist and their clinical diagnosis is not always easy because pain cannot be located exactly.
