The case of a Mississippi man who stalked and sexually assaulted his ex-girlfriend was brought before the Mississippi Court of Appeals. The defendant claimed that his ex-girlfriend's testimony, which indicated that he had AIDS, prejudiced the jury into convicting him. The appeals court decided that the main issue of the trial was whether the sexual relationship between the two parties was consensual, and stated that the defendant's lawyer should have objected to the statement in the original trial, rather than waiting for the appeal.
