Clinical study of transcatheter arterial chemotherapy and embolization in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Clinical study of transcatheter arterial chemotherapy and embolization in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Lin Chuang Er Bi Yan Hou Ke Za Zhi 17(4): 201-202

To study the significance of transcatheter arterial chemotherapy and embolization for patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Eighty-seven patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma were randomized into third groups: 1. A group (transcatheter arterial chemotherapy and radiotherapy), 26 cases; 2. B group (radiotherapy and chemotherapy), 29 cases; 3. C group (simple radiotherapy), 32 cases. All patients were followed up for 38-72 months. The immediate response (CR) of A group, B group and C group were 92.3% and 72.4% and 68.8%, respectively (P < 0.05). The 3 years survival of A group was 88.5%, higher than those of B group and C group, which were 69.0%, and 62.5% respectively (P < 0.05). Radiotherapy plus transcatheter arterial chemotherapy embolization simultaneously have synergic effect on patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma, this method was worthy further study.
