Les tableaux de croissance adaptés atténuent la complexité dans le domaine des soins prénataux pour la future mère et ses cliniciens en clarifiant la distinction entre les variations physiologiques et pathologiques de la taille du fœtus. Leur mise en application dans d’importantes bases de données a entraîné l’amélioration de notre compréhension de l’importance du retard de croissance intra-utérin et de son identification pendant la période prénatale. Il a été démontré que leur intégration à la pratique clinique, conjointement avec l’offre d’une formation appropriée et la mise en place de protocoles d’orientation, entraîne la baisse du risque de mortinaissance.
