When tobacco plants were supplied with NH4NO3 or (NH4)2SO4 labelled with N15, the N15-atom excess percent of protein-, ammonium-, alkaloid-and amide + residue-N in the roots, and the distribution ratios of these fractions among the total-labelled N, were appreciably higher in plants supplied with NH4 than with NO3.
