Electrolytic methods are used to produce negative radical ions of 1,2-benzpyrene, 1,2:3,4-dibenzanthracene and 3,4-benzphenanthrene in solution for electron spin resonance studies. Results of data analysis were compared by computer methods to the actual spectrum. Hyperfine coupling constants of 4.55, 2.25, 4.23, 0.72, and 0.90 G were found for 1,2-benzpyrene. Although spectra for the other two samples were not as good as that for 1,2-benzpyrene, sets of coupling constants are suggested.
