A lock-in amplifier was simulated on an Ibm 370 computer using digital signal processing. An Nmr signal was generated to which 20 db of random noise was added and this was fed into the simulation. The signal was processed the same as in analog equipment; i. e., narrow-band filtering followed by phase-sensitive detection and low-pass filtering. The output had an excellent signal-to-noise ratio.
