The modified packet model for heat transfer between a gas-fluidized bed and an immersed surface is presented. In contrast to the model of Mickley and Fairbanks, allowance was made for the effective gap heat resistance between the packet of particles and surface (the contact thermal resistance Rk) and for the heat transferred directly by convection through the gas filtering through the particles and between the particles and the immersed object.
