Using sedimentary miliacin (olean-18-en-3 -ol methyl ether) as a molecular tracer of the history of <italic>Panicum miliaceum</italic> (broomcorn millet) cultivation depends upon broomcorn millet being sedimentary miliacina s dominant source. It also requires knowledge of the variability in miliacin concentration in broomcorn millet.
