Gene Sources and Inheritance of Stripe Rust Resistance in Wheat

Sabrao Journal of Breeding and Genetics 40(2): 147-152

Two hundred and six varieties/lines of wheat were screened for stripe rust resistance. Eleven genotypes showed seedling as well as adult plant resistance against the 46S119 pathotype of stripe rust. The varieties/genotypes viz., HD2402, VL 404, WBM 1587, WBM 1591, WBM 1858, and WBM 1963 were identified as useful donors for stripe rust resistance in breeding programs because of their good agronomic backgrounds. The parents WBM 1587 and HS 240 were found to possess a single dominant gene pair for controlling inheritance of resistance against the 78S84 pathotype of stripe rust.
