The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of dietary supplementation of bergamot oil (0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 ml/kg) on performance, egg quality, blood metabolic profile and fatty acid composition of egg yolk of laying hens. Sixty four white Lohman LSL laying hens with 75 weeks of age were randomly and equally assigned to four groups (n = 16). Each treatment was replicates four times. Dietary supplementation of bergamot oil had no significant effect on feed intake, ratio of albumen, yolk and egg shell and shell thickness. Supplementation of 1.5 ml/kg bergamot oil improved feed conversion ratio, egg production, egg weight and Haugh Unit Score. The addition of bergamot oil to the laying hens feed led to a significant increase in egg shell strength. The addition of 1.0 and 1.5 ml/kg bergamot oil to the laying hens feed led to a significant decrease in serum triglyceride, cholesterol, calcium and albumin concentration. It was also observed that serum IgG concentration increased significantly with supplementation of 1.0 and 1.5 ml/kg bergamot oil in laying hens diets. It was determined that the addition of bergamot oil reduced proportions of n-6/n-3 of egg yolk and increased the DHA and n-3 ratio of the egg yolk. It can be concluded that the addition of bergamot oil, especially at a dose of 1.5 ml/kg, had positive effects on performance values and quality criteria of egg.
