Abstract
A simple test was devised to detect the presence of mucilage in the seed coat of Brassica seeds. The presence of mucilage in seeds of the B. campestris cultivar Candle was found to be controlled by two genes exhibiting dominance epistasis. There was no discernable correlation between seed coat color and the presence of mucilage.
