Abstract
The discrimination ability of several parameters measured in the manometric evaluation of the Lower Esophageal Sphincter (LES); i.e.: length, maximum pressure, mean pressure and area, at rest and after pharmacological stimulation with pentagastrin and histamine, are compared in this paperwork. According to the data obtained, we can conclude that the AREA, outlined by the recorded pressure through the total LES length, presents a higher discrimination ability since it is directly related to the increments in the Length and Mean Pressure caused by the growing doses of pentagastrin and histamine.
