The essence, the content and morphology of the social responsibility of economic entities were considered. The basic features of social responsibility were formulated; two basic types of social responsibility (formal and real) and its six basic levels were allocated. The value approach to the study of the evolution of social responsibility and its role in contemporary society was offered.
