Der Befall mit Tropilaelaps-Milben ist eine die Bienenbrut schädigende Krankheit und unterliegt bei Apis mellifera der Anzeigepflicht. Trotz des hohen Einschleppungsrisikos ist diese Tierseuche bislang noch nicht in Europa präsent. Um eine Einschleppung und Verbreitung zu verhindern, müssen Milben in Tropilaelaps-Größe im Gemüll oder in der verdeckelten Bienenbrut erkannt und unverzüglich identifiziert werden. Im vorliegenden Fall wurde mit Parasitellus fucorum eine weitere Milbenart im Gemüll von Apis mellifera festgestellt, die ein Verwechslungspotenzial zu Tropilaelaps spp. besitzt.
