Summary
Investigations have shown that self fertility was greater in F1S from, colchicine-induced tetraploids than in F1s from the original diploids. Of the 4n strains Tepa, Ulva and Tripo, Tepa had the highest self fertility. Sib matings resulted in a decrease in plant weight but an increase in self fertility. The progenies from polycrosses of inbred families showed a high degree of heterosis.
