Summary
Dogs can recover from the effects of introducing about 100 cc. of air into the jugular vein. Resistance to the effects is diminished in deep anesthesia and after section of the vagi. The heart in some conditions is the organ which fails in fatal cases, but failure of the respiratory center is the cause of death in others. Apnea is an important symptom indicating the loss of reaction in this center. Ventricular fibrillation is not a common cause of death.
