Summary
Blood-sugar curves following hypodermic insulin are reported in 37 cases. Normal and diabetic subjects, both underweight, were found most sensitive to the blood-sugar-lowering effect of insulin. Obese normal subjects are the least sensitive. The effect of insulin occurs most slowly in obese diabetics and normal subjects of normal weight. The blood-sugar curve following insulin is not specific enough in the diabetic patient to be used as a diagnostic test.
