Summary
Based on the premise that mental health is our nation's number one health problem and the impression that emotional disturbance and giftedness are little understood by educators this study reviews the literature and research which links these exceptionalities. The purpose of the study is to present: (1) accurate information about emotional disturbance and giftedness, (2) the necessity for earlv 'v identification of both emotionally disturbed and gifted children, and (3) the need for schools and communities to establish facilities which will provide the atmosphere for proper development and treatment for such youngsters.
