Summary
Preparations with improved selective action were studied for their efficiency in mechanized control of M. arvalis in 3-year laboratory and field studies. The comparative study involved the following chemicals: Difenacoum 0.25 EK, Bromadiolone 0.25 EK. Chlorophacinone 0.25 EK (Redentine) of the anticoagulant group and Castrix - pellets (Crimidine) and Gliftor of the acute effect preparations. The studied indicators - lethality, speed of action and quantity of consumed bait - showed Gliftor 0.5% and Brodificoum 0.005% to be the most efficient preparations. Difenacoum also gave good results. The effect of Bromadiolone against M. arvalis was insufficient. Chlorophacinone, if used at the currently recommended concentration of 0.005%, produced poor effect. The efficiency of this preparation could be enhanced either by raising the concentration in the bait to 0.0075-0.01% or by combination with small quantities of acute chemicals (0.5% zink phosphide). Mechanized distribution in the area of baits containing anticoagulants at the rate of 15 to 20 kg/ha was found to be quick to implement and safe for the useful fauna measure of M. arvalis control with sufficient efficiency.
