Summary
Kosice and its surroundings (and thus also the finding site of Dendrobaena byblica) are situated at the southern border of the East Subcarpathian part of the broad-leaved tree zone and the Pannonian part of the steppe zone in Czechoslovakia (Maran, 1958). From that it follows that there the representatives of the two above mentioned geographical regions meet. The above author reported Abax schiippeli redschmidti Germ. (Insecta) as a typical representative of the broad-leaved tree zone; however, our findings from another zoological group (Annelida: Lumbricidae) prove the occurrence of representatives of the fauna of the Pannonian region of the steppe zone from the surroundings of Kosice. As to the height of the above sea-level (hyposagraphic grade) the site of incidence of Zajonc's finding (1981.sbd.from 1964) and our finding (1983).sbd.Sered is situated at a height of less than 150 m above sea-level, whereas the surroundings of Kosice (the site of our finding) are situated at more than 150 m above sea-level.
